Dissident Project Nominated for Gregor G. Peterson Prize

We interrupt the regularly scheduled program with an exciting announcement! The Dissident Project has been nominated for the Gregor J. Peterson Prize in Venture Philanthropy and has advanced to the final round of consideration.

It is an incredible honor for our work to be recognized by this foundation, and we are excited to share the details with all of our supporters! This award sets early-stage philanthropic organizations apart by recognizing the potential of their reach and the value of their vision. This Prize seeks to provide funding at a critical time, enabling exceptional leaders with a clear vision to fuel innovation and problem-solving. The Peterson family believes strongly in the power of the free market system, the value of education, individual freedom, and a limited federal government among other key principles.

The Prize began in 2019 to honor Greg Peterson, a pioneer in venture capital and a co-founder of Sutter Hill Co. Peterson left an incredible legacy of core business principles and philanthropic values that his family has continued to perpetuate. The one time $250,000 award goes to the organization which shows true promise and sustainable goals for philanthropy. All nominees must be non-profit organizations in the first two years of operation. Past winners include organizations like Do No Harm, Recidivism, and Center for American Liberty. This year there were ninety nominees for the award, and only fifteen organizations were selected to go to the second round. The Dissident Project is honored to be among them!

Since our founding in 2022 by Daniel Di Martino, our mission has been to spread awareness among high school students about the dangers of authoritarianism using speakers who have real experience with corrupt and tyrannical regimes. Our efforts have been met with a mix of support and resistance which only confirms the real need for a project committed to such American principles. The support and recognition of the Gregor J. Peterson Prize Foundation is a momentous validation of all that we have done and hope to accomplish in the future. With over forty talks given to high school students in only one year of operation and several expansion projects underway, The Dissident Project is proud to be officially recognized alongside some of the top philanthropic organizations in the country.

With backing from sources like the Gregor G. Peterson Prize in Venture Philanthropy, the Dissident Project will continue to fight the spread of authoritarian ideology in classrooms and schools.
